Where it is used
Automotive, aerospace, heavy machinery and tooling teams rely on NX.

Siemens NX is a high-end integrated CAD/CAM/CAE system built on the Parasolid kernel, used across automotive, aerospace and machinery. Its native part files use the .prt extension.
Automotive, aerospace, heavy machinery and tooling teams rely on NX.
NX parts use .prt; the system is built on the Parasolid geometry kernel.
Note that .prt is also used by PTC Creo — they are not interchangeable.
Partners without an NX seat often need to view or convert NX .prt files, since NX is a premium system.
For cross-CAD exchange, NX is typically exported to STEP, or to Parasolid for other Parasolid-kernel systems.
To confirm an NX model, use the online NX viewer.
To reuse it, convert NX to STEP for engineering, or to glTF / OBJ / STL / FBX for web, rendering, printing or animation.
